Science is Elementary
Inspiring a passion for science in the leaders of tomorrow
Teachers

Your kindergarten physics lesson in my classroom [...] was outstanding. The presenters were well prepared, enthusiastic, and related very well with the children. The children were attentive and actively involved in the rotational lessons for almost 80 minutes! All in all it was a rousing success.

--- Susan, K teacher, Sunnyvale

After an hour and a half of interaction and a simple wrap up, Science is Elementary packed up and left. The children, however, could not stop talking about the experience. Perhaps most telling, the next morning during play time, the block corner was filled with ramps of all types, and the talk was all about ways to make their sliding objects go faster or slower (mostly faster!).

The car went farther when the slope was steep.

The cylinder slid down the ramp when I put it on its end.

Volunteers

It was great fun working with the kids. They were so excited about the hands-on activities they were smiling and laughing almost the entire time while learning about science, including advanced concepts. I definately encourage other adults, whether they are parents or not, to volunteer -- you will have a great time, too!

The kids loved the hands-on exploration of science, and I was surprised how quickly they grasped the concepts of energy and friction. I think the small group size, hands-on activities, and mix of fun and purpose was a great combination.
